Dua and remembrance after finishing the prayer with salaam #7

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ ، وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ ، يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ ، وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
Translation
The messenger of Allah (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Whoever says (translation of which is):

"None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, without partner, to Him belongs all sovereignty and praise, He gives life and causes death and He is over all things omnipotent."

ten times is like the one who had freed four souls from among the children of Ismaa'eel.

[In another narration: "who ever says it after Maghrib prayer, Allah will send guardians (i.e. angels) to protect him (or her) from Shaytan until the morning, and will gain ten rewards and get ten bad deeds wiped off of his record"]


*Supplicate ten times in the evening (after the Asr or Maghrib) and in the morning (after Fajr prayers)

laa ilaaha ill-allaahu, waḥdahu laa shareeka lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-ḥamdu, yuḥyee wa yumeetu, wa huwa ‛alaa kulli shay’in qadeer

أَمْسَيْنَا وَأَمْسَى الْمُلْكُ لِلهِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلهِ ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ ولَهُ الْحَمْدُ ، وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ ،

رَبِّ أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَ مَا فِي هَذِهِ اللَّيْلَةِ وَخَيْرَ مَا بَعْدَهَا ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ هَذِهِ اللَّيْلَةِ وَشَرِّ مَا بَعْدَهَا ،

رَبِّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْكَسَلِ وَسُوءِ الْكِبَرِ ، رَبِّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابٍ فِي النَّارِ وَعَذَابٍ فِي الْقَبْرِ
Translation
We have reached the evening and at this very time unto Allah belongs all sovereignty, and all praise is for Allah. None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, without partner, to Him belongs all sovereignty and praise and He is capable of all things.

My Lord, I ask You for the good of this night and the good of what follows it and I seek refuge with You from the evil of this night and the evil of what follows it.

My Lord, I seek refuge with You from laziness and senility. My Lord, I seek refuge with You from torment in the Fire and the torment in the grave.

Note: (al-masa-a) translated as evening refers to the time after the Asr prayer until the sun sets, however some scholars say that it refers to the time after the sun sets and onwards.
Transliteration
amsaynaa wa amsal-mulku lillaahi wal-ḥamdu lillaahi, laa ilaaha ill-allaahu waḥdahu laa shareeka lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-ḥamdu, wa huwa ‛alaa kulli shay’in qadeer,

rabbi as’aluka khayra maa fee haadhi-hil-laylati wa khayra maa ba‛dahaa, wa a‛oodhu bika min sharri haadhi-hil-laylati wa sharri maa ba‛dahaa,

rabbi a‛oodhu bika minal-kasali wa soo’il-kibari, rabbi a‛oodhu bika min ‛adhaabin fin-naari wa ‛adhaabin fil-qabr

اللَّهُمَّ بِكَ أَمْسَيْنَا وَبِكَ أَصْبَحْنَا ، وَبِكَ نَحْيَا وَبِكَ نَمُوتُ وَإِلَيْكَ الْمَصِيرُ
Translation
O Allah, by Your leave we have reached the evening and by Your leave we have reached the morning, by Your leave we live and die and unto You is our return.

Note:

(As-sabah) translated as morning refers to the time after the Fajr prayer until the sun rises.

(al-masa-a) translated as evening refers to the time after the Asr prayer until the sun sets, however some scholars say that it refers to the time after the sun sets and onwards.
Transliteration
allaahumma bika amsaynaa wa bika aṣbaḥnaa, wabika naḥyaa wa bika namootu wa ilaykal-maṣeer

اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ ، خَلَقْتَنِي وَأَنَا عَبْدُكَ ، وَأَنَا عَلَى عَهْدِكَ وَوَعْدِكَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا صَنَعْتُ ، أَبُوءُ لَكَ بِنِعْمَتِكَ عَلَيَّ وَأَبُوءُ بِذَنْبِي ، فَاغْفِرْ لِي فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ
Translation
The Prophet said "The master supplication (most superior way) to ask for forgiveness from Allah is:

"O Allah, You are my Lord, none has the right to be worshipped except You, You created me and I am Your slave and I abide to Your covenant and promise as best as I can, I seek refuge with You from the evil of which I have committed. I acknowledge Your favour upon me and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for verily none can forgive sin except You."

(The prophet then) said: "If somebody says it during the day with firm faith in it, and dies on the same day before the evening, he will be from the people of Paradise; and if somebody says it at night with firm faith in it, and dies before the morning, he will be from the people of Paradise."
Transliteration
allaahumma anta rabbiy laa ilaaha illaa anta, khalaqtanee wa ana ‛abduka, wa ana ‛alaa ‛ahdika wa wa‛dika masta-ṭa‛tu a‛oodhu bika min sharri maa ṣana‛tu, aboo’u laka bi ni‛matika ‛alayya wa aboo’u bi dhambee, faghfir lee fa innahu laa yaghfir-udh-dhunooba illaa ant

اللَّهُمَّ عَافِنِي فِي بَدَنِي ، اللَّهُمَّ عَافِنِي فِي سَمْعِي ، اللَّهُمَّ عَافِنِي فِي بَصَرِي ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْكُفْرِ ، وَالْفَقْرِ ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ
Translation
O Allah, grant my body health, O Allah, grant my hearing health, O Allah, grant my sight health. None has the right to be worshipped except You. (three times)

O Allah, I seek refuge with You from disbelief and poverty, and I seek refuge with You from the punishment of the grave. None has the right to be worshipped except You. (three times)
Transliteration
allaahumma ‛aafinee fee badanee, allaahumma ‛aafinee fee sam‛ee, allaahumma ‛aafinee fee baṣaree, laa ilaaha illaa ant (3x)

allaahumma innee a‛oodhu bika minal-kufri, wal-faqri, wa a‛oodhu bika min ‛adhaabil-qabri, laa ilaaha illaa ant (3x)

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَافِيَةَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَفْوَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ فِي دِينِي وَدُنْيَايَ وَأَهْلِي وَمَالِي ، اللَّهُمَّ اسْتُرْ عَوْرَاتِي وَآمِنْ رَوْعَاتِي
اللَّهُمَّ احْفَظْنِي مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيَّ ، وَمِنْ خَلْفِي ، وَعَنْ يَمِينِي ، وَعَنْ شِمَالِي ، وَمِنْ فَوْقِي ، وَأَعُوذُ بِعَظَمَتِكَ أَنْ أُغْتَالَ مِنْ تَحْتِي
Translation
O Allah, I ask You for well-being in this life and the next. O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in my religious and worldly affairs, and my family and my wealth. O Allah, veil my weaknesses and set at ease my dismay.

O Allah, preserve me from the front and from behind and from my right and from my left and from above, and I seek refuge with You lest I be swallowed up by the earth.
Transliteration
allaahumma innee as’aluk-al-‛aafiyata fid-dunyaa wal-aakhirah, allaahumma innee as’aluk-al-‛afwa wal-‛aafiyata fee deenee wa dunyaaya wa ahlee wa maalee,
allaahumm-astur ‛awraatee wa aamin raw‛aatee
allaahummaḥ-faẓnee min bayni yadayya, wa min khalfee, wa ‛an yameenee, wa ‛an shimaalee, wa min fawqee, wa a‛oodhu bi-‛aẓamatika an ughtaala min taḥtee

اللَّهُمَّ عَالِمَ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ ، فَاطِرَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ ، رَبَّ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَمَلِيكَهُ ،أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ ، أَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ نَفْسِي ، وَمِنْ شَرِّ الشَّيْطَانِ وَشِرْكِهِ ، وَأَنْ أَقْتَرِفَ عَلَى نَفْسِي سُوءًا أَوْ أَجُرَّهُ إِلَى مُسْلِمٍ.
Translation
O Allah, Knower of the seen and the unseen, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Lord and Sovereign of all things, I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except You. I seek refuge with You from the evil of my self and from the evil of the devil and his Shirk, and from committing wrong against my soul or bringing such upon another Muslim.

Note: Shirk refers to the belief or act of associating partners with Allah (in any way), in his Ruboobiyah (Lordship) and Oloohiyah (Worship).
Transliteration
allaahumma ‛aalim-al-ghaybi wash-shahaadah, faaṭir-as-samaawaati wal-arḍ, rabba kulli shay’in wa maleekah, ash-hadu an laa ilaaha illaa ant, ’a‛oodhu bi-ka min shar-ri nafsee wa min sharr-ish-shayṭaani wa shir-kih, wa an aqta-rifa ‛alaa nafsee soo’an aw ajur-rahu ilaaa muslim.

بِسْمِ اللهِ الَّذِي لَا يَضُرُّ مَعَ اسْمِهِ شَيْءٌ فِي الأَرْضِ وَلَا فِي السَّمَاءِ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ (ثلاث مرات)
Translation
The messenger of Allah (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: 'He who says in the morning and the evening of each day:

"In the name of Allah, by whose name nothing can cause harm neither on earth nor in the heaven and He is The All-Hearing, The All-Knowing." (three times)

Nothing shall harm him'
Transliteration
bismillaahil-ladhee laa yaḍurru ma‛asmihi shay’un fil-arḍi wa laa fis-samaa’i wa huwas-samee‛-ul-‛aleem (x3)

سُبْحَانَ اللهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ (مئة مرة)
Translation
The messenger of Allah said: whoever says in the morning and the evening :

"How far from imperfections Allah is and I praise Him." (one hundred times)

None will come on the day of judgement with something better, except for someone who said the same.

*[And in another narration] His/her sins will be forgiven, even if they were like the foam of the sea.

subḥaan-allaahi wa biḥamdihi (100 times)

يَا حَيُّ يَا قَـيُّومُ بِرَحْمَتِكَ أَسْتَغِيثُ أَصْلِحْ لِي شَأْنِي كُلَّهُ ، وَلَا تَكِلْنِي إِلَى نَفْسِي طَرْفَةَ عَيْنٍ
Translation
O Ever Living, O Self-Subsisting and Supporter of all, by Your mercy I seek assistance, rectify for me all of my affairs and do not leave me to myself, even for the blink of an eye.
Transliteration
yaa ḥayyu yaa qayyoomu bi raḥmatika astagheeth, aṣliḥ lee sha’nee kullahu, wa laa takilnee ilaa nafsee ṭarfata ‛ayn

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ ، وحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ ، وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
Translation
The messenger of Allah (may the peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) said: Whoever says (translation of which is):

"None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, without partner, to Him belongs all sovereignty and praise, and He is over all things omnipotent.

(one hundred times during the day)* will have the reward of freeing ten people (from bondage), one hundred good deeds will be written for him, hundred bad deeds will be wiped away and he has gained refuge from the devil for that day, and none shall come (on the day of judgement) with anything better except for someone who has done more (than this).
Transliteration
laa ilaaha ill-allaahu, waḥdahu laa shareeka lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-ḥamdu, wa huwa ‛alaa kulli shay’in qadeer (100x)

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ ، وحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ ، وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
Translation
The messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Whoever says in the morning;

None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, without partner, to Him belongs all sovereignty and praise and He is over all things omnipotent.

…has indeed gained the reward of freeing a slave from the children of Ismaa'eel, and ten of his sins are wiped away and he is raised ten degrees, and he has found a safe retreat from the devil until evening.

Similarly, if he says it in the evening, he will be protected until the morning.
Transliteration
laa ilaaha ill-allaahu, waḥdahu laa shareeka lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-ḥamdu, wa huwa ‛alaa kulli shay’in qadeer

سُورَةُ الإِخْلَاصِ - بِسْمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

قُلْ هُوَ ٱللهُ أَحَدٌ (١) ٱللهُ ٱلصَّمَدُ (٢) لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ (٣) وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُۥ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ (٤)

سُورَةُ الْفَلَقِ - بِسْمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ ٱلْفَلَقِ (١) مِن شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ (٢) وَمِن شَرِّ غَاسِقٍ إِذَا وَقَبَ (٣) وَمِن شَرِّ ٱلنَّفَّـٰثَـٰتِ فِى ٱلْعُقَدِ (٤) وَمِن شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ (٥)

سُورَةُ النَّاسِ - بِسْمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ ٱلنَّاسِ (١) مَلِكِ ٱلنَّاسِ (٢) إِلَـٰهِ ٱلنَّاسِ (٣) مِن شَرِّ ٱلْوَسْوَاسِ ٱلْخَنَّاسِ (٤) ٱلَّذِى يُوَسْوِسُ فِى صُدُورِ ٱلنَّاسِ (٥) مِنَ ٱلْجِنَّةِ وَٱلنَّاسِ (٦)
Translation
Abdullah Ibn Khubaib said, “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to me, ‘Recite!’. I replied, ‘O Messenger of Allah, what shall I recite?’ ”. He said, recite:

Surah Al-Ikhlas In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Say (O Muhammad (SAW)): "He is Allâh, (the) One.(1) Allâh the Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need, (He neither eats nor drinks). (2) He begets not, nor was He begotten. (3) And there is none co-equal or comparable unto Him." (4)

Surah Al-Falaq In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Say: "I seek refuge with (Allâh) the Lord of the daybreak, (1) From the evil of what He has created; (2) And from the evil of the darkening (night) as it comes with its darkness; (or the moon as it sets or goes away) (3) And from the evil of those who practice witchcrafts when they blow in the knots, (4) And from the evil of the envier when he envies." (5)

Surah An-Nas In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Say: "I seek refuge with (Allâh) the Lord of mankind, (1) The King of mankind (2) The Ilâh (God) of mankind, (3) From the evil of the whisperer (devil who whispers evil in the hearts of men) who withdraws (from his whispering in one's heart after one remembers Allâh), (4) Who whispers in the breasts of mankind, (5) Of jinn and men." (6)

…in the evening and the morning three times for it will suffice you (as a protection) agains everything.

Transliteration
bismillaahir-raḥmaanir-raḥeem

(1) qul huwa-llaahu aḥad (2) allaahuṣ-ṣamad (3) lam yalid wa lam yoolad (4) wa lam yakul-lahuۥ kufuwan aḥad

bismillaahir-raḥmaanir-raḥeem

(1) qul a‛oodhu birabbil-falaq (2) min sharri maa khalaq (3) wa min sharri ghaasiqin idhaa waqab (4) wa min sharrin-naffaathaati fil-‛uqad (5) wa min sharri ḥaasidin idhaa ḥasad

bismillaahir-raḥmaanir-raḥeem

(1) qul a‛oodh-u birabbin-naas (2) malikin-naas (3) ilaahin-naas (4) min sharril-waswaasil-khannaas (5) alladhee yuwaswisu fee ṣudoorin-naas (5) minal-jinnati wan-naas

أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ (ثلاث مرات)
Translation
I seek refuge with Allah’s perfect words from the evil of His creation. (three times in the evening)

Note: Whoever says this du'a in the evening, nothing shall harm him/her until dawn.
Transliteration
a‛oodhu bi-kalimaatillaahit-taammaati min sharri maa khalaq (x3)

سُبْحَانَ اللهِ (ثلاثا وثلاثين)

الْحَمْدُ لِلهِ (ثلاثا وثلاثين)

اللهُ أَكْبَرُ (أربعا وثلاثين)
Translation
When Ali and Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with them) approached the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) for a servant, he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to them, “Shall I not direct you both to something better than a servant? When you go to bed say:

How far from imperfections Allah is. (thirty-three times)
All praise is for Allah. (thirty-three times)
Allah is the greatest. (thirty-four times)

…for that is indeed better for you both than a servant.”
Transliteration
subḥaan-allaah (33x)

al-ḥamdu lillaah (33x)

allaahu akbar (34x)
Dua and remembrance in the morning and evening #12

سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ (مئة مرة)
Translation
The messenger of Allah (may the peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) said: whoevr says:

"How far from imperfections (far removed from imperfections) Allah is and I praise Him." (100 Times)
His sins will be forgiven, even if they were to be (as plenty-or many) as the sea foam.

Ibn Hajar said in Al-fath:"Better to be said in the morning and the evening" as suggested in other hadeeths.

*To be said 100 times in the day and the night

اللهُمَّ أَسْلَمْتُ نَفْسِي إِلَيْكَ، وَوَجَّهْتُ وَجْهِي إِلَيْكَ، وَأَلْجَأْتُ ظَهْرِي إِلَيْكَ، وَفَوَّضْتُ أَمْرِي إِلَيْكَ، رَغْبَةً وَرَهْبَةً إِلَيْكَ، لَا مَلْجَأَ وَلَا مَنْجَا مِنْكَ إِلَّا إِلَيْكَ، آمَنْتُ بِكِتَابِكَ الَّذِي أَنْزَلْتَ، وَبِنَبِيِّكَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلْتَ
Translation
If you take to your bed, then perform ablution, lie on your right side and then supplicate:

O Allah, I submit my soul unto You, and I turn my face towards You, and I totally rely on You, and I entrust my affair unto You, in hope and fear of You. Verily there is no refuge nor safe haven from You except with You. I believe in Your Book which You have sentdown and in Your Prophet whom You have sent.

…If you then die, you will die upon the fitrah.

Note: Fitrah refers to the religion of Islam, the way of prophet Ibraheem (peace be upon him).
Transliteration
allaahumma aslamtu nafsee ilayk, wa waj-jahtu wajhiya ilayka wa ’alja’tu ẓahree ilayk, wa fawwaḍtu amree ilayk, ragh-batan warah-batan ilayk, laa malja’a wa laa manja minka il-laa ilayk, aamantu bi-kitaa-bika-l-ladhee anzalt, wa bi-nabiyyik-alladhee arsalt
Dua and etiquette of retiring for the night

بِسْمِ اللهِ
Translation
“In the name of Allah.”

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: When night falls (i.e. Al-Maghrib);

1. Restrain your children (from going out) because at such time the devils spread about. After a period of time has passed, let them be.
2. Shut your doors and mention Allah’s name, for verily the devil does not open a shut door.
3. Tie up your water-skins and mention Allah’s name.
4. Cover your vessels (food) with anything and mention Allah’s name.
5. And put out your lamps.
Transliteration
bismillaah
