Dua when putting on a garment

الحَمْدُ لِلهِ الَّذِي كَسَانِي هَذَا الثَّوْبَ وَرَزَقَنِيهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ حَوْلٍ مِنِّي وَلَا قُوَّةٍ
Translation
All Praise is for Allah who has clothed me with this garment and provided it for me, with no power nor might from myself.
Transliteration
alḥamdu lillaahil-ladhee kasaanee haadhath-thawba wa razaqaneehi min ghayri ḥawlin minnee wa laa quwwah
Dua before undressing

بِسمِ الله
Translation
In the name of Allah.
Transliteration
bismillaah
Dua said to someone seen wearing a new garment #1

تُبْلِي وَيُخْلِفُ اللهُ تَعَالَى
Translation
May you wear it out and Allah replace it (with another).

Note: The intended meaning here is to supplicate for a long life.
Transliteration
tublee wa yukhlifullaahu ta‛aalaa

اِلْبَسْ جَدِيدًا وَعِشْ حَمِيدًا وَمُتْ شَهِيدًا
Translation
Wear anew, live commendably and die a shaheed.

Note: Shaheed is a one who dies fighting the kuffar in order to make the word of Allah superior or in defense of Islam.

It also has other meanings found in the Sunnah such as the one who dies defending his life, wealth or family.

The woman who passes away due to childbirth and the one who drowns etc are also regarded as shaheed.

Dua before eating and drinking

بِسْمِ اللهِ
Translation
When you are about to eat, you should say:

“In the name of Allah.”



Notes:
*Brings blessing upon food or drink.
*Prevents the devil from partaking in food or drink
Transliteration
bismillaah
Dua when forgetting to mention the name of Allah at start of a meal

بِسْمِ اللهِ فِي أَوَّلِهِ وَآخِرِهِ
Translation
If you forget to say (“Bismil-lah”) before starting (your meal), then you should say (when you remember):

“In the name of Allah in it’s beginning and end.”

bismillaahi fee awwalihi wa aakhirihi
Dua after drinking milk

اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِيهِ وَزِدْنَا مِنْهُ
Translation
Whomever Allah gives milk to drink should say:

“O Allah, bless it for us and give us more of it.”
Transliteration
allaahumma baarik lanaa feehi wa zidnaa minh
When invited to dinner

Translation
Allah's Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “If any one of you is invited (to a feast), he should accept (the invitation).

In case he is fasting he should supplicate (in order to bless the people in the house/host) and if he is not fasting he should eat."

Note: One can supplicate for their host in their own words.
Dua for the one offering food or drink

اللَّهُمَّ أَطْعِمْ مَنْ أَطْعَمَنِي ، وَاسْقِ مَنْ سَقَانِي
Translation
"O Allah, feed him who fed me, and provide drink to him who provided me with drink."


Note:
This Dua can be also said after having a meal at someone's house as a guest, or as an encouragement for someone to offer you food.

allaahumma aṭ‛im man aṭ‛amanee, wasqi man saqaanee

The virtue of thanking Allah after eating and drinking

الْحَمْدُ للهِ
Translation
The messenger of Allah (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

''All Praise is for Allah''

"Allah will be pleased with His slave who praises Him (i.e., says Al-hamdu lillah) when he eats and praises Him when he drinks".

Dua Upon Finishing A Meal #1

الْحَمْدُ لِلهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَنِي هَذَا الطَّعَامَ وَرَزَقَنِيهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ حَوْلٍ مِنِّي وَلَا قُوَّةٍ
Translation
"All praise is for Allah who fed me this food and provided it for me without any might nor power from myself."

Note: Whoever says this supplication after finishing a meal, his/her preceding sins shall be forgiven as mentioned in the hadith.

alḥamdu lillaahil-ladhee aṭ‛amanee haadhaa aṭ‛aama wa razaqaneehi min ghayri ḥawlin minnee wa laa quwwah
Dua upon finishing a meal #2

الْحَمْدُ لِلهِ حَمْدًا كَثِيرًا طَـيِّـبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ ، غَيْرَ مَكْفِيٍّ وَلَا مُوَدَّعٍ وَلَا مُسْتَغْنًى عَنْهُ رَبُّنَا
Translation
“All praise is due to Allah, an abundant, good and blessed praise. He is The One who is sufficient, He feeds and is not fed. He is The One who is longed for, as well as that which is with Him, and He is The One who is needed, He is our Lord.”


Note: There are other views as regards to the understanding of this supplication, but the one mentioned here is the closest to the correct understanding, as per many of the recent and previous scholars.
Transliteration
alḥamdu lillaahi ḥamdan katheeran ṭayyiban mubaarakan feehi, ghayra makfiyyin wa laa muwadda‛in wa laa mustaghnanan ‛anhu rabbunaa
Dua upon finishing a meal #4

اللهُمَّ أَطْعَمْتَ وَأَسْقَيْتَ، وَأَغْنَيْتَ وَأَقْنَيْتَ، وَهَدَيْتَ وَأَحْيَيْتَ، فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَلَى مَا أَعْطَيْتَ
Translation
O Allah you gave me food and drink, You had enriched (me) and sufficed (me), (You) had guided (me) and gave (me) life, therefore, I praise you for what you had given (me).
Transliteration
allaahumma aṭ‛amta wa asqayta, wa aghnayta wa aqnayta, wa hadayta wa ’aḥyayta, fa lakal ḥamdu ‛alaa maa a‛ṭayt

اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَهُمْ فِيمَا رَزَقْتَهُمْ ، وَاغْفِرْ لَهُمْ وَارْحَمْهُمْ
Translation
O Allah, bless for them, that which You have provided them, forgive them and have mercy upon them.

allaahumma baarik lahum fee maa razaqtahum, waghfir lahum war-ḥamhum

أَفْطَرَ عِنْدَكُمُ الصَّائِمُونَ، وَأَكَلَ طَعَامَكُمُ الْأَبْرَارُ، وَصَلَّتْ عَلَيْكُمُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ
Translation
May the fasting (people) break their fast in your home, and may the dutiful and pious eat your food, and may the angels send prayers upon you.
Transliteration
afṭara ‛indakum-uṣ-ṣaa’imoon, wa akala ṭa‛aamakum-ul-abraar, wa ṣallat ‛alaykum-ul-malaa’ikah

Translation
Abdullah Ibn Sarjis (RA) said: I went to see the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and ate from his food and then said to him:

“May Allah forgive you, O Messenger of Allah.”

…he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied:

“and you (too).”
Transliteration

ghafar-allaahu laki

Dua for the one offering a gift or charity or doing you a service

بَارَكَ اللهُ فِيكَ

[For a female]
بَارَكَ اللهُ فِيكِ

[For a group of people]
بَارَكَ اللهُ فِيكُمْ
Translation
Aishah (RA) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was given a sheep and he ordered for it's distribution.

When the servant would come back (after distributing it), Aishah would ask: “What did they say?”, he replied: They would supplicate:

“May Allah bless you.”

…Aishah would then say:

“and may Allah bless you.”

…we return their supplication in a similar way and our reward remains with us.
